Bent-Andreas Mücke

PhD Student

I am a PhD candidate at the University of Amsterdam, working in the ADAPT lab as part of the Cognitive Control team within the New Science for Mental Disorders (NSMD) consortium. My research focuses on developing personalized, network-informed treatments for addiction, initially targeting cannabis use disorder, and investigating how enhancing future-oriented thinking can improve treatment outcomes.

Using Ecological Momentary Assessment (EMA), I study how daily-life factors such as craving, mood, and context interact to shape addictive behaviors. My goal is to use these insights to design adaptive interventions that help individuals act in line with their long-term goals.

Before starting my PhD, I obtained my bachelor’s in Psychology & Neuroscience and my research master’s in Cognitive & Clinical Neuroscience (spec. Drug Development & Neurohealth) at Maastricht University. Before coming to Amsterdam, I worked as an outpatient social worker in Frankfurt am Main, supporting clients with substance use and mental health problems. My background in Neuropsychopharmacology and my hands-on experience in working with those directedly affected by addiction continues to shape my research today.
